Building Local Capacity By Providing Tech Jobs
At EdTech for Africa, our mission goes beyond providing innovative classroom technology. We are committed to creating opportunities that empower local communities, from the moment a smartboard arrives to the day it transforms a classroom.
One of the most impactful ways we support communities is through our commitment to local assembly and labor. By assembling smartboards within Africa, we are creating jobs, building technical expertise, and reducing costs for schools. Local technicians, engineers, and logistics teams are at the core of this initiative, ensuring that every step of the process—from assembly to installation—contributes to the growth of the community.
When a shipment of smartboards arrives, local teams take charge, handling everything from customs clearance to transport. Skilled workers assemble the components into ready-to-use systems, gaining valuable hands-on experience with advanced technology. These assembled smartboards are then transported to schools by local drivers, further supporting employment and economic activity.
The installation process is equally collaborative. Teams work directly with school leaders to set up the smartboards in classrooms, ensuring every piece is perfectly placed. Alongside installation, we provide training sessions for teachers to help them fully integrate the technology into their lessons. This hands-on approach empowers educators to use the tools effectively while fostering a sense of ownership within the school community.
Our focus on local assembly and labor reflects our belief in sustainable solutions that create lasting impact. By prioritizing local expertise and resources, we’re not just delivering technology—we’re building a foundation for self-reliance and economic growth.
Through these efforts, we’re supporting more than education; we’re nurturing stronger, more connected communities that play an active role in transforming the future of learning across Africa.
